Learning the letter Ii

Today we made ice cream in a bag. We put cream, vanilla and sugar into small snap lock bag. We put this inside a big bag full of ice and rock salt. We had to shake the bag really hard to make the ice cream. When it was made we put sprinkles on top and had a taste. Yummy!

Room 2 has a butterfly!

It was very exciting for us all today! This is our first butterfly in Room 2. 

The children have been learning about the life cycle of a catterpillar by looking at pictures, books and watching it happen on our science table.  

We broke into groups of family size.

We are thinking about who is in our family and what we do with them.

We were writing letters on each other's back and trying to guess what they were.

Discovery time!

The outside element of discovery time this week included wiggle boards, tunnels, soft mats, a bounce back net wall and chalk. It was great to see the children directing their own learning, using their inicitive and taking risks. 

 

 

 

Art

In Art we are learning to draw. Today we drew our faces. We had to finish the other half of our face, making sure we put our eyes, nose, lips and ears in the right place. We talked about using our pencil to draw light lines and using "real" colours to make us look real! Come on in and have a look at our work... Here is a little sample!

Be a tooth defender!!

We learnt how to be a tooth defender! We must brush the front, back, sides and tongue to make sure we have a bright smile! Room 1 and 2 really enjoyed watching the video of Dr Rabbit and his tooth defenders! 

Check your child's bag tonight, they have a new tooth brush and tube of toothpaste!  

Kiwisport

This week at Kiwisport we learnt how to throw a discuss. We learnt to hold the discuss, stand in the correct position and aim our discuss. Thanks Mel!
