End of Term

I hope everyone has a restful holiday.  Remember that Term 4 begins on Monday 13th October.  Room 2 will be going swimming at 8.30am so make sure you are at school just before the 8.30am bell.

Last week we had our second Gold Award Assembly for the term.  Big congratulations to Madeline who was the Gold Award winner for September.  Constance, Tom  and Logan were also lucky to win draws at the assembly.  Thank you to Sam, Annania, Tom and Ryan who showed their Robots to everyone.

Well done Ngarimu house who won the House Treat for Term 3.

On Tuesday we had our Healthy Heroes celebration.  The children went to the senior class teachers to take part in some fun activities for the morning.

Duffy Role Model Assembly

Last Friday Tom and Isaiah received certificates at our weekly Kakano Team assembly. Congratulations to you both.

Yesterday we were fortunate to host Jacqui Knight at our Duffy Role Model Assembly.  Jacqui spoke to us about her passion for reading and for learning new things.  She showed us a book she had written about her dog Brae and their journey through New Zealand.  She presented some Duffy books at the assembly and everyone else got their books when we got back to the classroom.
The photos show Tom And Atiria receiving their books from Jacqui.

Making Porridge

Our poem this week is Pease Porridge Hot.  Yesterday the children in Rooms One and Two made porridge using rolled oats.  Everyone had a turn stirring the porridge in the pot and when it was cooked they ate some with brown sugar and milk.

Tongan Language Week

It was lovely to have a visit from the children and teachers from the Niu Preschool who sang some songs to us as part of their celebration of Tongan Language week.

Dippy eggs

Congratulations to Constance and Alex who are the certificate winners this week.

On Friday Fred and ben from Metro cricket came to school to share cricket skills with the children.  As well two other men brought the Cricket World Cup for us to see.  They told us the tournament will be held next year and the opening match is in Christchurch.

This week our poem was Hickety Pickety.  On Monday we made dippy eggs and toast "soldiers" for the children to enjoy.  Everyone was able to put an egg into the pot and then butter their toast while they waited for the eggs to cook.
