Being Respectful: Twinkle gets Cheeky

It took us a wee while to find Twinkle today, he had taken himself up to the top of the whiteboard AFTER he had scribbled on everything! Can you see him in the photo? We wonder what he will do next week...

Being a Learner: Using QR Codes

We learned how to use QR Codes. We enjoyed using them to watch educational videos about some animals we saw at Orana Park.

Being Respectful: What has Twinkle been up to?

Yesterday we found Twinkle on the floor with some puzzles. He must have seen Santa and come back to our class and gotten up to some mischief. Check out what he was up to.

Being Respectful: Santa Sends a Parcel!

We had a special delivery from Santa! We opened it and found a letter and Twinkle the Elf. Twinkle has been sent by Santa to watch over our classroom. Every night Twinkle goes back to the North Pole to report to Santa what Room 2 have been up to. We think he is a bit of a cheeky elf and that he may get up to mischief. Twinkle has a special key so he can get in and out of our classroom when we are not here. We are looking forward to the adventures he may have!

Being A Learner: Visiting Orana Park

Last Wednesday Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 all went to Orana Park.  We went by bus and we went as part of our Inquiry Learning.  It was great to be able to make real connections with our learning.  When we got to Orana Park we split into five groups and a Zoo School teacher took us around the Park.  Some highlights were seeing tigers and lions close up, feeding the giraffes and seeing the gorillas.   We saw lots of different animals in real life and it was amazing to see the size in real life.

Here are some photos from our day.

Being a Learner: Taking Risks at Discovery

In Discovery today we made Fruit Cones and enjoyed them in a big circle on the mat. We had lovely chats with each other about our day. Discovery Time is a great time to explore things we don't normally do in class. It is great fun!

Being a Learner: Fabric and Fibre Art

We have been working so hard to complete our sewing creations. We have made Monsters, Owls and Dinosaurs. To make our creations we learnt the running stitch. Take a look at what some of our Room 2 Learners have made!

Being As Good As Gold

Well Done Fatai, Suritta and Nikita for getting Gold Awards in the November Gold Awards Assembly. Keep up the great work!

We also shared our Fabric and Fibre Artwork. We used the running stitch to create Dinosaurs, Monster, Fish and Owls.

Being a Learner: Measuring Weight in Maths

We have been learning about weight in Kakano. We read the book Goldilocks and the Three Bears and we compared the sizes and weights of objects in the story. We then had to make Popcorn Cones for the Bears because they were going to the movies. We worked in groups to make a Cone each for the Bears. Daddy Bear had the heaviest, Baby Bear had the lightest and Mummy Bear had a cone lighter than Daddy's but heavier than Baby's. At the end of the lesson, we ate the popcorn!

Being A Learner: Tadpoles Come to Kakano!

In the holidays, Mrs Narbey managed to find the Kakano Team some tadpoles.  They are all at different stages from eggs to medium sized tadpoles.  Each class has some tadpoles to learn about.  They have some growing to do!

Our frogs are Brown Tree Frogs which often also called Whistling Tree Frogs.  Here is some information about them and how to care for them.

Here are some photos of our set up so far.
