Being A Learner - Our First School Cross Country

On Friday 15th April Room 2 and Room 3 ran in their first School Cross Country at Linwood North School.   We had to do a whole lap around the field without stopping.  We had trained at fitness time for this event and we were very excited about running!  We ran in our house colours to earn house points.

We ran together as we are all Year 1 students.
A big thank you to the seniors who helped show us where to run.
Congratulations to all students who tried their best!

Being A Learner - The Letter of the week is Rr

Learning About the Letter Rr

Each week we focus on a letter to learn, read and write about.  We do this through phonics, singing, reading stories, handwriting, alphabet activities, letter writing, playdough, Language Experience, make and do and lots of other things.

This week we are learning about the letter Rr.  We will learn its name, its sound, how to write and recognise it and about some things that begin with this letter.

The teachers love planning exciting learning experiences to help us learn our letters.

Room Three what can you think of that begins with Rr?

Being Respectful and Responsible Learners: Exploring Spencer Park

On Thursday 6th April Kakano and Karawha went on a fantastic day out to Spencer Park. We went to the beach and built sandcastles, played in the super fun playground and visited the petting zoo where there were chickens, doves, rabbits, kunikuni pigs and mice! It was such a great day. Thank you to all the parent helpers, you were all amazing and made our day extra fun!

Being a Learner: Hh is for Hippo Biscuits

On Monday 4th of April we iced Hippo Biscuits for our Language Experience activity. They were delicious and tasted like vanilla. We loved the black icing, it was exciting to try something new!

Being a Learner: Cooperating

Today we were learning how to do activities together as a team. We had to work together to make ourselves into a big caterpillar. Look at how we went!

Being a Learner: Literacy Week

This week is was Literacy week. Everything we did revolved around books. We read 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and made bar graphs in Maths. 'No David' inspired us to draw portraits of our emotions, 'Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons' helped us to write number sentences. Throughout this short week we have read many other stories, we really enjoy reading in Room 2.

Here we are listening to 'Green Eggs and Ham' over the intercom.
