Action Stations before school
Beginning the day with a range of stations to choose from is a fabulous way for children to settle gently into their day.
Our doors are open from 8:30 am and once children have unpacked their bags and organised their sandwich and snack into their trays they are able to choose from a range of activities.
These activities support children with social skills, fine and gross motor skills as well as foundation literacy skills.
It is lovely to see parents sharing this time with their children. You are always welcome to stay and work with your child.

Library Visit
We visit our lovely school library weekly on Thursday afternoons. I'm sure this is one of the best times to go, as the sun streams in the windows.
Check out these photos of Room 2 children relaxing and reading books.

We love playing truck and trailers
Room 1 and 2 added an extra trailer to their truck this week.
Such a fun way to practice different locomotor skills.
science experiment - mentos and soda
This week's experiment involved dropping mentos peppermints into a bottle of diet soda. We used both cola and lemonade to see if the flavour made a difference. Both flavours reacted the same.
It was very exciting when the soda sprayed everywhere.

Doing writing on the iPads
Some of us used an app on the iPads in writing this week.
We could take a photo, then type in the speech bubble.
A speech bubble shows that the teddy or person is talking.

Science experiment - Elephant toothpaste
Today we learnt that experiments don't always work out the way we want them to.
We tried an experiment where we thought the ingredients would mix together and 'erupt', but they didn't.

the ingredients |
We are going to try again next week, and this time we will measure the ingredients very carefully. We are wondering if that will make a difference.
Cake from Vrinda's family
Last week Vrinda's family celebrated the birth of Lord Krishna with the festival of Janmashtami,
and they brought a gorgeous cake to school to share with Room 2.
We think Vrinda's mum is very, very talented to bake and decorate such a lovely cake.
Thank you for sharing with us.

Constable Matt came to visit
Today Constable Matt came to visit and talked with us about MAKING GOOD CHOICES.
This is part of our Health unit - Kia Kaha.
We learned that you can make good choices or bad choices, and that there are consequences when we make bad choices.
consequences - are the things that happen after we make a choice. It could be getting told off, getting hurt, or lots of other things.
We looked at photos of people and talked about what was happening in the photos. We noticed that some people were making bad choices, so we thought about how we could help them to make better choices.
